FAQ’s

Are Alliance specialists insured?

Yes. Every independent specialist must provide evidence of their own Public Liability Pet Business Insurance as part of the Hound Solo Alliance vetting process.

Are Alliance specialists DBS checked?

Yes. Providing evidence of a valid DBS certificate is one of the entry requirements for joining the Hound Solo Alliance.

What happens if my walker is sick or on holiday?

This is one of the advantages of being connected through the Hound Solo Alliance. If your regular specialist is unavailable, contact Hound Solo and we can look across our network for another vetted independent specialist who may be able to provide cover. Any replacement is arranged with your agreement and subject to availability.

What happens if there is an emergency?

Your dog's profile questionnaire gives us important information before you are matched, including the details needed to help an Alliance specialist understand your dog and their individual needs.

If an emergency occurs while your dog is in their care, your specialist will contact you as soon as possible and take the action they consider necessary to protect your dog's welfare. This may include contacting your nominated veterinary practice or, where urgent treatment is required, seeking appropriate veterinary assistance.

Do I need to be home for collection and drop-off?

No. Once you've been matched, you can arrange property access, key management and any other practical requirements directly with your Alliance specialist.

Are bitches in season accepted?

Yes, subject to your specialist being comfortable accepting the booking. Any necessary adjustments to walks or care can be agreed directly with them to keep your dog safe.

Are unneutered or unspayed dogs accepted?

Yes. Dogs are considered individually, with the information you provide through your profile questionnaire helping us find an appropriate match.

Will my dog be walked off-lead?

Only where you have provided off-lead consent during onboarding and your Alliance specialist is comfortable that it is appropriate and safe for your dog.

If you have particular preferences — such as the use of a long line or keeping your dog on-lead — you can discuss these directly with your walker.

What if I only need a couple of sessions a week?

That's absolutely fine. Availability varies across the Alliance, but we'll do our best to find a suitable match. If you can offer some flexibility around timing, it may give us more options when looking for the right specialist.

Send us a message through the Contact page and we'll see what we can arrange.

Do Alliance specialists operate in the rain?

Generally, yes — British weather comes with the territory! If weather conditions become unsafe or unsuitable for your dog, your specialist can discuss the best alternative with you, which might include shortening or adapting the walk or providing care at home instead.

What is the cancellation policy?

Bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled start time may be subject to a cancellation charge. The applicable cancellation terms will be made clear when your service arrangements are agreed with your Alliance specialist.
